How Does PRP Work?<\/strong><\/div>
PRP is a relatively short office-based procedure, which involves a quick blood draw and the subsequent processing of the blood sample in a centrifuge; this step separates the red and white blood cells from the rest of the blood, and concentrates the platelets within the blood sample.\u00a0 Platelets are tiny cell-like particles within our blood that are important in clotting and the healing of tissue after an injury; platelets contain lots of growth factors and various other signals important in tissue regeneration.\u00a0 By spinning the blood sample in a centrifuge, platelets are isolated and concentrated within the watery component of blood called plasma, and this concentrate–called PRP–is subsequently injected into the tissues we aim to heal and improve.<\/div>
