Understanding Labiaplasty: <\/strong><\/h2>

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure designed to alter the size or shape of the labia minora (inner vaginal lips). Whether the decision is driven by aesthetic desires or discomfort during physical activities, our skilled surgeon and women\u2019s wellness expert, Dr. Inessa Fishman, is committed to delivering exceptional results.<\/p>

Immediate Post-Operative Period:<\/strong><\/h3>

After your labiaplasty, it is normal to experience some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort. Dr. Fishman and our team will provide you with specific post-operative care instructions to minimize these effects and promote a smoother recovery.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Days 1-7: <\/strong><\/h3>

During the first week, it’s crucial to prioritize rest and allow your body to heal. Patients are advised to avoid strenuous activities, including exercise and heavy lifting. Ice packs and pain medications, such as Tylenol and Ibuprofen, can help manage any discomfort.<\/p>

A peri-bottle and Bacitracin ointment will be provided to you following the procedure. We advise using warm water in the peri-bottle to spray the affected area following using the restroom as to prevent rubbing and irritating the area while healing. Bacitracin is an antibiotic ointment which we advise applying to the area 4x per day to prevent infection. It’s essential to follow these post-procedure instructions regarding hygiene and care to prevent infection.<\/p>

Additionally, to manage swelling, we recommend preventing putting excess pressure on the area. Laying down, lounging on your side, or sitting on a donut-shaped airplane pillow are great tactics to relieve putting direct pressure on the affected area allowing swelling to subside faster.<\/p>

Weeks 2-4<\/strong>:<\/h3>

As the initial swelling begins to subside, many patients find that they can gradually resume light activities. However, it’s still important to avoid vigorous exercise and sexual activity for at least 6 weeks prior to the procedure. Also, we recommend wearing compression pants or leggings to help with discomfort and minimize swelling. You will follow-up with Dr. Fishman for suture removal at the 2-week mark. Follow-up appointments with your surgeon will ensure that the healing process is progressing as expected.<\/p>

Weeks 4-6<\/strong>:<\/h3>

By the end of the first month, most patients can resume normal daily activities, but it’s crucial to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard. You may still experience mild swelling and discomfort, but these symptoms should continue to improve. Dr. Fishman will guide you on when it’s safe to resume more strenuous activities and intimate relations.<\/p>

Long-Term Healing<\/strong>:<\/h3>

While the majority of swelling and discomfort will subside within the first few weeks, complete healing and the final results may take several months. It’s important to attend all scheduled follow-up appointments for Dr. Fishman and our team to monitor your progress and address any concerns.<\/p>
