Acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, and uneven texture are among the most common skin concerns we hear about at our Atlanta practice. Patients have often tried products. Some have seen results. Many feel like they have reached a plateau.<\/p>\n

Microneedling is one option I often discuss with patients who want to improve their skin\u2019s texture and overall appearance without surgery. It isn\u2019t the answer to every concern, but for the right patient, it can make a meaningful difference. I want patients to understand what a treatment can and cannot do before they begin, so here are the questions we hear most often at Aviva.<\/p>\n\n

Who May Benefit From Microneedling?<\/h2>\n

Microneedling is a versatile treatment that addresses a broad range of concerns. You may be a strong candidate if you are noticing one or more of the following:<\/p>\n

Fine lines or early signs of aging around the eyes, mouth, or forehead that topical products have not resolved<\/div>\n
Acne scars or depressed scarring that has persisted despite consistent skincare<\/div>\n
Enlarged pores, rough texture, or dullness that leaves skin looking tired or uneven<\/div>\n

Microneedling is one of the few treatments that performs well across a broad range of skin tones, including deeper complexions that may not be ideal candidates for certain laser treatments. Unlike heat-based devices, traditional microneedling stimulates collagen mechanically, which makes it a genuinely useful option for many of the patients we see here in Atlanta and Sandy Springs.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n

Is Microneedling Safe for All Skin Types?<\/h2>\n

Microneedling can be an option for many skin types and tones, including deeper complexions. Traditional microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries without relying on heat, which can make it an appealing alternative to certain energy-based treatments for patients concerned about changes in pigmentation.<\/p>\n

That does not mean it is appropriate for everyone. Active skin infections, certain inflammatory conditions, a history of problematic scarring, and other individual factors can change the recommendation. I believe the safest approach starts with examining your skin, reviewing your medical history, and choosing the right treatment settings for you.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n

Does Microneedling Hurt?<\/h2>\n

This is one of the first questions we hear from patients considering microneedling, and it is a fair one. The short answer: for most people, it is quite manageable.<\/p>\n

Before your treatment, we apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable throughout the session. Once it has taken effect, most patients describe the sensation as mild pressure, vibration, or a light scratching feeling as the device moves across the skin.<\/p>\n
