Women’s wellness is a key part of the our practice at Aviva Plastic Surgery, and the non-surgical vaginal treatment Votiva helps us treat patients with concerns of vaginal changes and laxity, dryness, and decreased sensation or sexual satisfaction.<\/p>\n

What is Votiva?<\/h2>\n

Votiva<\/a> is one of the most popular treatments that we perform in the office.\u00a0 We as women go through physical changes as we age, experience hormone changes, or have children. These changes are normal and a part of the human process, but we are not always satisfied with the results. Many women complain of vaginal laxity (sensation of looseness), vaginal dryness, or decreased sexual stimulation. All these things can be treated and improved with Votiva treatment.<\/p>\n

\"Atlanta<\/p>\n

Votiva is a series of three treatments using non-invasive radiofrequency energy to target the weak muscles and tissues of the vaginal canal.\u00a0 This treatment also improves the appearance of enlarged or stretched labia, improves sexual stimulation, and even improves mild urinary stress incontinence.<\/p>\n

While some women are great treatment candidates, not every patient meets the criteria for Votiva treatments.\u00a0 Votiva treatments should be avoided if the patient is on her menstrual period or if she is pregnant. Any vaginal rings for birth control or hormone replacement will have to be removed before Votiva treatments. Treatment preparation and recovery are simple; we don\u2019t encourage patients to douche or insert any vaginal supplements before or in between treatments. Preparation is simple as well; we ask patients shave or trim the pubic hair two days prior to the Votiva treatment.<\/p>\n

What does a Votiva treatment feel like?<\/h2>\n

For the most part, patients describe a gentle heating sensation from the radiofrequency energy.\u00a0 While discomfort is possible, it is highly uncommon with the Votiva treatment, and has not been a part of our patients’ experience. Votiva treatments have no downtime, and patients may return to work and resume their daily activities after the procedure. We encourage patients to avoid any strenuous activity or tampon use 24 hours after each treatment. The most common question that we get is \u201cwhen can I have sex again,\u201d and we suggest that patients wait for 2-3 days before any sexual activity after the treatment is done.<\/p>\n

When do patient see results?<\/h2>\n

Most patients may start to notice the beneficial results of the treatment a week to two weeks after the first procedure, and they will continue to improve over time and after multiple treatments are completed.\u00a0 Our recommendations are typically a series of 3 Votiva treatments, with an additional annual treatment thereafter; treatments should be spaced by 4-8 weeks. Votiva may also be combined with PRP or platelet-rich plasma<\/a> to help improve decreased sensation and stimulation.\u00a0 PRP is the process of using the patient’s own plasma from blood and injecting into the vaginal canal, around the G-spot, and sometimes around the opening of the urethra (for patients complaining of urinary incontinence). While the additional PRP treatment is optional, we often recommend it to many patients to for the best results in intimate wellness.<\/p>\n
