NECK LIPOSUCTION: TREATMENT DETAILS

Facial and neck liposuction can be performed in the office, with the help of pre-treatment relaxing medication by mouth and injectable numbing medicine. Liposuction can also be performed in the operating room, under general anesthesia. During chin and neck liposuction, Dr. Fishman places tiny incisions in the crease under the chin and behind the ears and uses small instruments to remove fat and sculpt a more pleasing appearance of the lower face and neck. After completing the liposuction procedure, Dr. Fishman closes her incisions and places a supportive After the area is sculpted, the incisions are closed and a chinstrap is applied to keep pressure on the surgical area for about 24 hours. This helps to minimize swelling and bruising.

AFTER SURGERY

HOW DOES DR. FISHMAN PERFORM LIPOSUCTION?

Dr. Fishman uses tumescent liposuction for most liposuction cases; here, she places a cannula (a slim metal suction tube) under the skin through small incisions under the chin and behind the ears. After numbing the skin and underlying tissues, Dr. Fishman connects the cannula to a gentle vacuum to remove excess fat and sculpt aesthetic contours to the neck and jawline. If necessary, Dr. Fishman combines liposuction with skin tightening procedures in the same treatment. She closes the small incisions with stitches and a paper tape dressing, and places a neck garment onto the patient at the completion of the case.
