Facelift: How to Care for Your Skin After Surgery?

Taking care of yourself and incisions after surgery is a very important part of the healing process. Proper after care and cleaning will help reduce the chances of infections and scarring.

Where are the incisions?

There is an incision along the hairline near the temple that goes down to the front of the ear and behind the ear along the hairline. There will also be an incision under the chin. The incisions are placed in this area to help disguise or hide the scar once you are healed.

What should I use to clean my face and incisions?

Physicians ask that you use lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap or cleansers when washing your face. You are welcome to use shampoo and conditioner after your surgeon has cleared you to wash your hair. Please remember to avoid harsh chemical products such as hair sprays, dyes, or other hair products. For the incision site itself, physicians use peroxide diluted with water to clean the incision and remove any blood.

How do I clean the incisions?

You can simply use a Q-tip or gauze with peroxide and gently go over the incisions. You will do this about 3 times a day and after you wash your hair or shower. Lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap is okay to use on the area as well. Please reach out to your physician if you notice any pus in the incisions, darkening or necrosis around the incisions, or any other abnormal pain or discoloration of the skin.

Exosomes after Morpheus: What are the benefits?

Morpheus is a noninvasive treatment that helps rejuvenate the skin by tightening and making the skin brighter and smoother through the increased the production of collagen and elastin production. This is like microneedling where you penetrate the skin with small needles repeatedly, except Morpheus gets deeper in the skin and uses heat to help increase the collagen production.

Exosomes are thought to be the new “breakthrough” in skincare because of how well it repairs and rejuvenates the skin. Exosomes are growth factors released from stem cells that are transferred to other cells to help repair tissues and build collagen and elastin much faster than stem cells alone.

There are many benefits to Morpheus alone. Morpheus is sometimes considered a non-surgical option to a face lift or face tightening. The heat and radio frequency increases the production of collagen to tighten and give the skin a brighter appearance. When combined with the exosomes after each Morpheus treatment you will notice even more of an improvement faster than just having the Morpheus treatment alone. Exosomes carry growth factor and other molecules that are attracted to skin cells that are inflamed to help rejuvenate the skin. There is an additional boost in collagen and elastin production when using exosomes to regenerate the skin cells. You are receiving the optimal results when you use the exosomes.
