Descripción
This 44-year-old woman was referred to our practice by her Dermatologist to treat her forehead bump. She was bothered by the appearance of the bump on her left upper forehead, and has had this for ~14 years, noting it has been growing slowly. She denied tenderness, pain, redness, drainage, headaches, or irritation. The patient’s CT scan showed an osteoma (benign bone growth of the skull).
Our facial plastic surgeon Dr. Inessa Fishman removed the osteoma growth through a small incision in the patient’s scalp hair so as to minimize visible scarring on her face. The patient had her surgery in the comfort of our clinic, while awake and relaxed with by-mouth relaxing medications and laughing gas. She is shown 2.5 months after surgery, with a great outcome and well-healing incision that is already hidden by her scalp hair. Our patient shows the expected mild and resolving swelling at her left forehead, and a small amount of bruising resolving under her left eye. Her scalp incision is bright pink at weeks after surgery, and will lose this redness over the coming 1-2 months. Our patient is also shown aquí 2 weeks after surgery.
