At Aviva Plastic Surgery and Aesthetics, we believe that surgical precision leads to more natural results, easier recovery, and happier patients. That’s why Dr. Inessa Fishman uses some of the most advanced tools available in aesthetic medicine—including the Piezo ultrasonic device—to sculpt and refine the nose with greater accuracy and care.
If you’ve never heard of Piezo technology, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we use it for bone contouring during rhinoplasty, and why it’s become a go-to tool in Dr. Fishman’s surgical practice.
Piezo (short for piezoelectric) technology uses ultrasonic vibrations to gently and precisely cut bone, without harming the surrounding soft tissues. This is a game-changer in facial plastic surgery—especially when reshaping the nasal bones during rhinoplasty.
Traditional instruments like chisels and rasps can be effective, but they can also cause bruising, swelling, and trauma to delicate nearby tissues. With Piezo, we’re able to contour and shape the nose with more control, less trauma, and smoother outcomes.
Dra. Fishman is known for blending cutting-edge techniques with a deep respect for natural anatomy. Piezo fits perfectly into this philosophy.
Dr. Fishman uses the Piezo device most often during primary and revision rhinoplasty procedures that require bony reshaping. If the bridge of the nose needs to be narrowed, straightened, or smoothed, Piezo is usually part of the surgical plan.
It’s also a great option for patients who want to preserve as much of their natural bone structure as possible while still improving nasal shape and balance.
For you as a patient, the experience of having Piezo-assisted rhinoplasty is not very different from a traditional procedure—except when it comes to recovery. Many of our patients notice:
Dr. Fishman often combines Piezo rhinoplasty with other techniques such as preservation rhinoplasty o structural cartilage reshaping, depending on your anatomy and goals.
