Description
This young woman came to our practice interested in improving the feel of her labia minora, or inner folds of skin just outside the vaginal opening. She described needing to rearrange and tuck in her labia in her underwear during the day, and wanted to improve this as well as feel more comfortable. She had no history of pregnancies or childbirth.
We treated this young woman with a bilateral (both-sided) curvilinear labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction to take away the excessively long inner labial tissues and contour the too-long tissues around the clitoris for overall aesthetic balance. The patient is shown immediately after her surgery, with a small amount of swelling already present after surgery and injection of numbing medicine.
Our patient had her treatment awake and relaxed in the comfort and privacy of our clinic, and was able to see her results during and immediately after surgery. She did not receive general anesthesia, and was very comfortable with by-mouth relaxing medications and ProNox (laughing gas). She will continue to heal and resolve swelling over the next 3-6 months; during this time, the labial tissues become less puffy and more contoured, while the incisions heal to essentially invisible.
While labia and vaginas come in a wide array of shapes and appearances, some women feel uncomfortable with too-long or stretched or asymmetric labial tissues, and want this improved after puberty, weight changes, pregnancy, childbirth, or menopause. We frequently combine labiaplasty procedures with clitoral hood reduction, growth factor injections for improved sensitivity and sexual health, and vaginal rejuvenation to achieve optimal intimate health for our patients.
