Labia Augmentation with Filler

Labiaplasty

With time, childbirth, and other hormonal changes, some women may find that their labia majora (or the outer lips at the opening of the vagina) become less elastic and lose volume. Dermal fillers offer a safe and effective volumizing treatment option to improve the appearance and feel of the labia with no downtime and natural, long-lasting results.

What is Labial Augmentation with Filler?

Labia augmentation with dermal filler, also known as labial puffing, add volume to the labia to address signs of aging. Pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause can all cause the labia majora or outer lips to lose volume and become less plump. Hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers such as Restylane or Revance’s RHA filler line can significantly improve appearance of the labia majora without a permanent procedure. The new volume immediately improves the aesthetic as greater volume gives a younger appearance. Filler can also address asymmetry on one side or conceal a more prominent labia minora with a 30 minute-procedure.

Who is a good candidate?

Candidates for labial filler treatment include ndividuals who:

  • are in good health
  • notice the signs of aging, such as loss of volume or sagging appearance in the labial tissues
  • have an interest in improving the appearance of their labia majora
  • have asymmetric labia majora (one side longer or fuller than the other)

How does the labial augmentation procedure work?

Labial augmentation with filler is a nonsurgical procedure that is minimally invasive and short. After you arrive to the office, a topical anesthetic is applied to decrease discomfort during the filler injections. We provide laughing gas (also called ProNox) to ease anxiety and worry during treatment. After numbing, the labial filler procedure only takes 10-15 minutes. Afterwards, there is no downtime from the injection and you can resume your regular daily activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Labia augmentation with filler is a short in-office treatment.  The labial tissues are first numbed with numbing cream, and then thoroughly cleaned; next, our expert staff injects the filler into the labia majora, gently restoring lost volume and adding structure to the labia. Most patient reports minor swelling, but very little downtime and essentially little to no discomfort. We ask that you lay on your side as much as possible and avoid direct direct pressure on the treated areas for 2-3 days after labial filler treatment.

The risks of labial filler treatment include bleeding, bruising, swelling, tenderness, infection, allergic response, and inadequate results. The majority of the post-treatment swelling subsides within 2-3 days after the labial puffing procedure; while some bruises can last for 5-7 days. Infection is highly unlikely, as are allergies; and these complications have not been a part of our staff’s experience with labial filler. Some fillers can become lumpy after a few weeks, although this complication is rare. If the appearance of labial filler is unsatisfactory, or if the filler becomes bumpy, it can be dissolved at any point with an injectable medication called hyaluronidase.

Every patient has individually different anatomy and aesthetic goals; because of this, we encourage individuals interested in labia augmentation treatment to schedule a consultation with our women’s wellness experts in order to receive custom-tailored treatment recommendations and pricing information. In general, labia puffing cost starts at approximately $2,500, and increases depending on volume desired.

As with all fillers, treatment results and duration vary, and depend on each person’s body and individual metabolism. Results of hyaluronic acid labial filler typically last approximately 6-12 months, although some patients report shorter and longer durations. Labia fat grafting offers longer-lasting results for some individuals.
