The rejuvenating and healing power of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) has been used in the Orthopedic, Oral Surgery, and Aesthetic Medicine field for decades. PRP is also helpful for improving sexual health and intimate wellness for women and men. The use of your own blood–with its healing growth factors and nutrients–helps improve sexual function, increase sensation, and restore sexual satisfaction. Â
At Aviva Plastic Surgery, we strive to help women and men improve sexual health and intimate wellness. Our mission is to enhance quality of life, comfort, and confidence for the right person with proven, effective treatments in a warm and welcoming environment.
The staff at Aviva have been so helpful and supportive in my journey. They made me feel comfortable discussing all of my concerns--and addressed them all! I had some changes after having kids, and felt my sex life and confidence were not the same. PRP treatments and Votiva have helped a lot!

PRP is platelet rich plasma, or a highly concentrated combination of platelets (the tiny blood cells responsible for clotting and healing wounds) and plasma (or the golden-colored watery component of blood) which is rich in nutrients and healing growth factors. PRP is obtained by drawing your blood and processing it to remove the red and white blood cells, leaving a concentrated cocktail of platelets and plasma called “liquid gold” due to its healing and regenerative ability. PRP is commonly injected into the tscalp for hair restoration; the skin and tissues of the face for facial rejuvenation; and used alongside bone grafts in Orthopedic and Oral Surgery. We commonly use PRP to inject the vagina and penis to improve patients’ sensitivity, sexual function and stamina, and sexual satisfaction. PRP can help some women treat stress urinary incontinence, or loss of urine with stress and exercise, a common and unwanted change after pregnancy and childbirth. We often combine PRP treatments with labiaplasty surgery and Votiva vaginal rejuvenation for a comprehensive intimate wellness approach. Â
Confidence in intimate health and healthy function helps our patients feel their best every day, and this feeling extends to many areas in our patients’ personal, and intimate lives. In addition to improved self-confidence, PRP treatment brings:
If you are bothered by decreased sexual sensation or function, you may benefit from PRP treatment for sexual health. Speaking with our trusted and experienced women’s wellness experts about the reasons why you’re considering the PRP treatment and sharing your concerns is an important step in your treatment journey. Together, we can craft the right wellness strategy that ensures you reach your sexual health and wellness goals.
As with any other treatment, PRP for sexual wellness is an excellent treatment option for some patients. Candidates are women and men who have the following:
PRP treatments for sexual health can be an effective treatment for many. However, patients with bleeding disorders or on prescription blood-thinning medications like Aspirin may not gain the full benefits of PRP treatments. PRP works by harnessing the restorative power of platelets; some blood-thinning medications as well as allergy medicines can disable platelet function. We review your medical history and medications and supplements during your initial consultation; please use this visit to bring up your concerns, or call our office at 678-974-8435.
We most commonly perform PRP treatments for sexual health in the comfort of our office, during a short outpatient visit.  Most patients return to their daily acvitivities immediately after PRP treatment, with little to no downtime. Some patients reports very mild tenderness at the treatment sites or at the site of the blood draw; and this is effectively managed with Tylenol.Â
PRP treatment risks include bleeding, clotting, and nerve and tissue damage; these are very uncommon, and have not been a part of our patients’ experience. It is important to work with an experienced medical provider to understand and minimize these risks.Â
Most commonly, PRP treatments are considered an elective procedure and are not typically covered by insurance. We are not in network with insurance plans at Aviva Plastic Surgery; and all treatments are self-pay at our practice.Â
We offer financing options for sexual health and intimate wellness treatments. Please inquire with our staff about this at the time of your consultation.
During your PRP treatment, you should expect to have a blood draw to get some of your blood. Because some people may be anxious about this, we offer relaxing laughing gas for the entire PRP treatment, should you want it. It is also very helpful to prepare for your PRP treatment by ensuring you’re very well hydrated for at least 2 days before your visit, and on the day of treatment. Your blood sample is processed in a centrifuge, or a medical device which spins the blood to separate the larger white and red blood cells from the tiny platelets and plasma used during your PRP treatment. After the red and white blood cells are removed, your blood sample takes on a clear, golden color–and this is your PRP. Â
After the treatment area is numbed with a numbing cream, we administer your PRP quickly and precisely, targeting the areas needing rejuvenation. You are free to return to your daily activities immediately after your treatment, as the PRP injections carry little to no downtime. Â
As with any treatment, results of PRP treatments for sexual health may be different for every patient. While some men and women notice an improvement right away, some individuals may take several weeks to appreciate the benefits of PRP treatments. PRP results tend to improve over time; regular maintenance treatments may be required to maintain these results. Â
Our mission at Aviva Plastic Surgery is simple – help patients achieve greater confidence and their best health. By offering PRP for sexual health treatments in a welcoming, professional environment, we have helped many women and men make life better in many ways. To learn more about PRP for sexual health, call our clinic at 678-974-8435. We look forward to taking care of you!
