This 39-year-old woman wanted to improve the appearance and feel of her labia minora, or inner folds of skin just outside the vaginal opening. She described “always feeling self-conscious about her appearance” and didn’t like the labia minora sticking out beyond the level of the labia majora (the outer and hair-bearing lips of tissue). She felt bothered by having to rearrange her labia frequently with clothing, and had difficulty wearing certain types of underwear. Our patient reported having these concerns for years; her labia became more stretched after pregnancies and delivery of her 2 children.
We treated her with a bilateral (both-sided) curvilinear labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction to take away the excessively long inner labial tissues and contour the too-long tissues around the clitoris and clitoral hood for overall aesthetic balance. The patient is shown 6 weeks after her surgery, nearly completely healed from her surgery, and with a beautiful treatment outcome. She is also shown here immediately after treatment.
Our patient had her treatment awake and relaxed in the comfort and privacy of our bespoke clinic, and was thrilled to see her results immediately after surgery. She will continue to heal and resolve swelling over the next 4-6 months; during this time, the labial tissues become less puffy and more contoured, while the incisions heal to essentially invisible.
While labia and vaginas come in a wide array of shapes and appearances, some women feel uncomfortable with too-long or stretched or asymmetric labial tissues, and want this improved after puberty, weight changes, pregnancy, childbirth, or menopause. We frequently combine labiaplasty procedures with clitoral hood reduction, growth factor injections for improved sensitivity and sexual health, and vaginal rejuvenation to achieve optimal intimate health for our patients.
