Description
This 5-week-old girl was brought in by her parents with concerns of a “folded up” right ear, which had gotten worse since birth. Her ear showed a lop ear deformity; in this deformity, the ear looks “pinched together” and does not have a well-developed antihelical crus, or the Y-shaped fold of cartilage at the upper part of the ear. Our Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Inessa Fishman diagnosed with baby with congenital ear deformity, and treated her with 5 weeks of non-surgical newborn ear correction. This non-invasive treatment allows for gentle and painless reshaping or molding of the external ear structures, reforming the cartilage of the ear in a permanent way.
Earwell newborn ear correction is a highly effective treatment which allows Dr. Fishman to correct a large number of newborn ear deformities. This treatment is most effective if started within the first few weeks of life, as the baby’s ear cartilage is most pliable during this time.
