Description

This 30-year-old woman came to our practice interested in treating her forehead bump. She was bothered by the appearance of the bump on her right upper forehead, and has had this for ~1 year, noting it has been growing slowly. She denied tenderness, redness, drainage, headaches, or irritation. The patient reported having had a previous ultrasound “which didn’t show anything.”

Our facial plastic surgeon Dr. Inessa Fishman diagnosed the patient with a likely lipoma, and removed the growth through a small incision in the patient’s scalp hair so as to minimize visible scarring on her face.  The patient had her surgery in the comfort of our clinic, while awake and relaxed with by-mouth relaxing medications and laughing gas.  She is shown just 1 week after surgery, with a great outcome and a small amount of swelling still resolving and her forehead and the face.  While she is already thrilled with “the bump being gone,” the patient will continue to have softening and resolution of swelling at her forehead for the next several months.

Forehead lipomas and osteomas are common at our practice, and patients travel out of state and the country to seek Dr. Fishman’s expertise and experience treating them.  We aim for great outcomes, invisible scarring, and a wonderful experience in treating facial lipomas and osteomas at Aviva Plastic Surgery.

About Lipomas & Osteomas Procedures

Lipomas, osteomas, and various other “bumps” on the scalp, face, and neck are common concerns among patients who come to our practice.  A lipoma is a benign (non-cancerous) fatty growth which may appear on various parts of the body, face and scalp; while an osteoma is a growth of bone which can form on the forehead or skull.  Our facial plastic surgeon Dr. Inessa Fishman commonly treats lipomas and osteomas as well as a variety of other bumps and cysts on the face and neck.Learn More About Lipoma TreatmentLearn More About Osteoma Treatment
