Description
This 47-year-old woman came to our practice interested in removing her left forehead under-the-skin bump. She has had this for 5 years, and the bump has grown slowly. She saw a Dermatologist and General Surgeon for previous evaluation, but was told surgery would leave her with a scar that was visible and she did not want. After extensive research, our patient found our practice online, had a virtual consultation, and then traveled from out of state for her treatment.
Our facial plastic surgeon Dr. Inessa Fishman diagnosed the patient with a likely forehead lipoma (benign fatty growth) via a thorough physical exam and ultrasound imaging. Dr. Fishman removed the growth through a small incision in the patient’s scalp hair so as to eliminate the chance of visible scarring on her face. The patient had her surgery in the comfort of our clinic, while awake and relaxed with by-mouth relaxing medications and laughing gas. She is shown 2 months after surgery, with a great outcome and essentially invisible scarring that is already well-hidden by her scalp hair. In fact, both she and Dr. Fishman struggled to find her incision at her 2-month post-operative visit.
Forehead lipomas and osteomas are common at our practice, and patients travel out of state and the country to seek Dr. Fishman’s expertise and experience treating them. We aim for great outcomes, invisible scarring, and a wonderful experience in treating facial lipomas and osteomas at Aviva Plastic Surgery.
