Description

This 51-year-old woman came to our practice interested in removing her very large right forehead under-the-skin bump. She has had this for over 15 years years, and the bump has grown slowly.  The patient had been told in the past that surgery to remove the bump would leave a large and visible scar on her forehead, and she hesitated to proceed with treatment.

Our facial plastic surgeon Dr. Inessa Fishman diagnosed the patient with a likely forehead lipoma after doing a thorough physical exam and ultrasound imaging.  Dr. Fishman removed the growth through a small incision in the patient’s scalp hair so as to eliminate the chance of visible scarring on her face.  The patient had her surgery in the comfort of our clinic, while awake and relaxed with by-mouth relaxing medications and laughing gas. She is shown just 3 weeks after surgery, with a great outcome and essentially invisible scarring that is already well-hidden by her scalp hair.  While she did not feel comfortable sharing photos of her face, our patient did want to share before and after photos of her forehead and the sentiment that “this surgery has been life-changing for her.”

Forehead lipomas and osteomas are common at our practice, and patients travel out of state and the country to seek Dr. Fishman’s expertise and experience treating them.  We aim for great outcomes, invisible scarring, and a wonderful experience in treating facial lipomas and osteomas at Aviva Plastic Surgery.

About Lipomas & Osteomas Procedures

Lipomas, osteomas, and various other “bumps” on the scalp, face, and neck are common concerns among patients who come to our practice.  A lipoma is a benign (non-cancerous) fatty growth which may appear on various parts of the body, face and scalp; while an osteoma is a growth of bone which can form on the forehead or skull.  Our facial plastic surgeon Dr. Inessa Fishman commonly treats lipomas and osteomas as well as a variety of other bumps and cysts on the face and neck.Learn More About Lipoma TreatmentLearn More About Osteoma Treatment
