Treating the Nasal Hump: Liquid vs Surgical Rhinoplasty

Nasal humps often appear due to genetics or trauma to the nose. There are a lot of individuals who are bothered by this and seek treatment. There are two options to treating the nasal hump or bump on the bridge of the nose. The first option being a liquid or non -surgical rhinoplasty, this is done by injecting filler to the nasal bridge to camouflage the hump. The other option would be surgery which is more invasive. This will involve making an incision at the base of the nose or inside the nostril to gain access to the bridge. Surgeons will use special instruments to help shave down the bump and they sometimes may need a cartilage graft to help add extra support to the tip of the nose. bridge of nose liquid rhinoplasty surgical

Pros and Cons of Liquid Rhinoplasty

Liquid Rhinoplasty is a non-invasive procedure with no downtime. You are free to return to normal activities as soon as the injections are done. The only thing that the physician asks is that you avoid laying down for the first 4 hours after the treatment and massaging your face, exercise for the remainder of the day to prevent the filler from migrating. A non-surgical rhinoplasty will last anywhere between 6 months to a year depending on a patient’s metabolism. The downside to this treatment is that in the long run you spend more money to maintain this versus going the surgical route.

Pros and Cons of Surgical Rhinoplasty

Although this is the more expensive option, it is better longterm. You will not have to worry about continuing to do injections to maintain your desired look. The cons to this procedure is the down time associated with surgery. Due to swelling and bruising you will not be socially presentable for at least a week after surgery.
