Our MOST Commonly Asked Questions: Non-Surgical Labiaplasty

We are proud to offer the non-invasive scarless labiaplasty to our patients at Aviva Plastic Surgery. This innovative treatment is relatively new. Many patients have questions regarding the treatment. Read on to hear from our expert staff about this life changing treatment.

WHAT IS A NON SURGICAL LABIAPLASTY?

Also known as the Aviva or FemTite procedure, the treatment uses Radiofrequency (RF) technology to tighten and reduce the size of the labia. we perform this procedure in the office with the help of injectable medication and relaxing medication, such as Pronox. The non-surgical labiaplasty is minimally invasive, requiring no excision of tissues. Immediately following the procedure, patients experience a tightening effect due to the gentle heating. However, this also stimulates collagen formation, resulting in additional tissue tightening over the course of a few months.

HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM THE SURGICAL OPTION?

The surgical labiaplasty addresses excessive, asymmetric, or stretched labial tissue by removing it. During surgical labiaplasty, the surgeon cuts and removes a wedge-shaped piece of labial tissue, subsequently placing stitches along the cut to close it.  In contrast, a non-surgical labiaplasty avoids cutting and sutures by using radiofrequency heat to tighten the labial tissues.

WHO IS  A GOOD CANDIDATE?

Women who are bothered by the appearance of their labia may be good candidates for non-surgical labiaplasty. Likewise, women who feel that excessively long, asymmetric, or stretched labia interfere with their daily activities or sexual function may consider the AVIVA or FemTite non-surgical labiaplasty treatment.  This treatment may also help women suffering from mild to moderate stress urinary incontinence. Some of these individuals may avoid invasive pelvic surgery with the help of the FemTite radiofrequency treatment.

However, not all women can be treated with non surgical labiaplasty and may be a better candidate for the surgical procedure instead. During your consultation, our expert staff will evaluate your individual anatomy to determine which treatment is best for you.

WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE?

Just like any other body part, the labial tissue requires time and care to recover following a procedure. Still, discomfort after non-surgical labiaplasty is limited for most patients.  Mild tenderness and swelling are usually well managed with anti-inflammatory medications (such as Tylenol) and compressive yoga pants. The majority of patients return to work and most social activities within 1-3 days after treatment.

IS THE PROCEDURE SAFE?

While the scarless labiaplasty is a new, state-of-the-art procedure, the procedure is safe or unproven. Previous literature shows high patient and physician satisfaction with much lower risk of complications than a surgical labiaplasty.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

The results are relatively permanent. However, as the aging process continues, additional measures may be needed to maintain results.
