Description
This 49-year-old woman came to our practice interested in treating her forehead bump. She had had this bump for over 20 years, and didn’t like its appearance. She had a previous MRI to evaluate the growth, but just wasn’t ready to proceed with treatment until she found our practice. The patient denied tenderness, redness, drainage, headaches, or irritation of the bump.
Our facial plastic surgeon Dr. Inessa Fishman diagnosed her with an osteoma (benign bone growth), and removed the growth through a small incision in the patient’s scalp hair so as to minimize visible scarring on her face. The patient had her surgery in the comfort of our clinic, while awake and relaxed with by-mouth relaxing medications and laughing gas. She is shown 2.5 months after surgery, with a great outcome and a much more smooth forehead contour. Her scar is well-healed and is difficult to find even when parting her hair.
Forehead lipomas and osteomas are common at our practice, and patients travel out of state and the country to seek Dr. Fishman’s expertise and experience treating them. We aim for great outcomes, invisible scarring, and a wonderful experience in treating facial lipomas and osteomas at Aviva Plastic Surgery.
