Description

This 42-year-old woman was interested in treating a growth on her forehead, which had been present for approximately 20 years. The patient reported intermittent itching and easy and copious bleeding with trauma. Our facial plastic surgeon Dr. Inessa Fishman diagnosed the patient with a hemangioma, or an abnormal cluster of blood vessels, and treated her with surgical removal.  The patient is shown 7 months after her surgery, with an excellent outcome and great healing progress.  Her scar is carefully camouflaged as a forehead wrinkle, and the surrounding pinkness will continue to fade over the course of the remaining year after surgery.

Hemagiomas can be treated with lasers, and this patient had tried a previous laser treatment without much improvement.  She is very happy with her surgical treatment and outcome, and had a short recovery after her office-based surgery, during which she was awake, comfortable, and relaxed.
